Starquake
Starquake is a classic sci-fi action platformer released for MS-DOS in 1988 by Bubble Bus Software. Originally created by Stephen Crow, the game places you in the role of BLOB (Bio-Logically Operated Being), a robotic explorer sent deep beneath the surface of an unstable alien world to prevent its core from collapsing. Combining exploration, platforming, and puzzle-solving, Starquake delivers a unique adventure across hundreds of interconnected screens.Armed with a laser weapon and a limited supply of temporary platforms, you must navigate hazardous caverns filled with hostile creatures, hidden passages, and valuable objects. Every playthrough offers a slightly different experience, as the key components required to stabilize the planet are randomly distributed throughout the enormous game world, encouraging exploration and experimentation.
Despite the technical limitations of the DOS version, Starquake remains a memorable example of 1980s action-adventure design. Its non-linear gameplay, inventive mechanics, and challenging world helped establish it as one of Bubble Bus Software's most celebrated titles and a cult favorite among retro gaming enthusiasts.
