Lure of the Temptress
Lure of the Temptress, released in 1992 by Revolution Software, is a fantasy point-and-click adventure that marked the studioβs debut. Players step into the role of a reluctant hero named Diermot, who finds himself imprisoned in the medieval town of Turnvale after an attack by the evil sorceress Selena. Escaping captivity is only the beginning, as Diermot must rally the townsfolk and put an end to her reign of terror. The game is notable for introducing the innovative "Virtual Theatre" system, which allowed non-player characters to move freely around the game world, follow their own routines, and interact with one another. This dynamic behavior gave the town of Turnvale a sense of life and unpredictability, setting Lure of the Temptress apart from more static adventure titles of its era.
With its hand-drawn artwork, witty dialogue, and clever puzzles, Lure of the Temptress quickly established Revolution Software as a creative force in the genre. The gameβs mix of humor, dark fantasy atmosphere, and technical innovation secured its place as a cult classic among early 1990s adventure games.
