Ocean Software was founded in Manchester in 1983 by David Ward and Jon Woods and grew into one of Europe's biggest publishers. It specialised in licensed adaptations — RoboCop, Batman, The Addams Family and Jurassic Park among them — and in arcade conversions, turning film and coin-op tie-ins around at a pace few rivals could match. For a generation of European players the Ocean logo was the most familiar sight on a game box.
