RoboCop 3
RoboCop 3 is a 3D action game developed by Digital Image Design and released for MS-DOS in 1991. Based on the movie of the same name, it puts players in the role of RoboCop as he battles to protect the citizens of Detroit from the corrupt OCP corporation and its army of criminals. The game was notable for its ambitious use of early 3D polygon graphics, which brought a new level of immersion to PC action titles of the time.Players take on a variety of missions, including patrolling the streets, engaging in shootouts, and piloting RoboCop’s jetpack in aerial combat. Each mission demands quick reflexes and tactical thinking, while the cinematic cutscenes and atmospheric soundtrack help recreate the feel of the movie.
At the time of its release, RoboCop 3 stood out for its technical innovation and variety of gameplay styles. Though challenging, it offered players a taste of open-ended 3D action years before it became standard in PC gaming. Today, it remains an interesting example of early 90s experimentation with polygon-based game design.
