Ultima VIII: Pagan is a dark, action-oriented entry in Origin Systems’ legendary RPG series, released for MS-DOS in 1994. Cast into the mysterious and oppressive world of Pagan, the Avatar must master elemental magic and challenge four tyrannical Titans in order to escape back to Britannia.

Departing from the series’ traditional party-based gameplay, Pagan features a more arcade-style combat system, platforming elements, and a grimmer tone, all powered by a richly detailed isometric engine. Though controversial for its bold changes, Ultima VIII delivers atmospheric storytelling, deep lore, and a haunting glimpse into one of the darkest corners of the Ultima universe.
