Origin Systems was founded by Richard Garriott in 1983 and operated under the motto "We Create Worlds." They are best known for the Ultima series of role-playing games and the Wing Commander space combat series, both of which set benchmarks for storytelling and production values in PC gaming. Electronic Arts acquired the studio in 1992.
