Alone in the Dark 2 – MS-DOS cover art Alone in the Dark 2 is a survival horror adventure developed and published by Infogrames in 1993. As the sequel to the groundbreaking original, the game once again follows private investigator Edward Carnby, who is hired to investigate the kidnapping of a young girl named Grace Saunders. His search leads him to the mysterious Hell’s Kitchen mansion, where a gang of dangerous criminals hides a much darker supernatural secret.

The game combines exploration, puzzle-solving, combat, and cinematic fixed-camera presentation with pre-rendered backgrounds and polygonal characters. Compared to the first Alone in the Dark, the sequel places a stronger emphasis on action, featuring more frequent encounters with armed enemies as well as a variety of weapons and environmental challenges. Players must carefully explore rooms, collect useful items, solve puzzles, and survive numerous deadly situations.

With its distinctive early 3D graphics, eerie atmosphere, and mixture of horror, adventure, and action, Alone in the Dark 2 remains an important title in the history of survival horror. The MS-DOS version captures the experimental spirit of early 1990s PC gaming and offers a challenging experience filled with suspense, strange characters, and supernatural mystery.
