Classic MS-DOS Games from 1996

1996 was MS-DOS gaming's glorious final chapter. id Software's Quake pushed into true 3D and demonstrated what the platform could still achieve. Duke Nukem 3D from 3D Realms became one of the most talked-about games of the decade. Tomb Raider launched a new genre and a new gaming icon. Diablo from Blizzard Entertainment created the action-RPG dungeon-crawler template that the genre still follows. Heroes of Might and Magic II cemented the turn-based strategy series as a modern classic. The games of 1996 were among the finest ever produced for DOS.
